The Bottle Tree Ranch

Oro Grande, CA

A short drive down U.S. Route 66 takes you to a forest of repurposed bottles in a world of colors, shapes, and sizes. The Bottle Tree Ranch boasts more than 200 bottle trees that were constructed from metal with discarded glass bottles on every welded branch. The ranch, which offers free admission (donations are accepted), features other odds and ends such as old camping lanterns and windmill parts as well.

Ranch Hours: Open sunrise to sunset, seven days a week.

California Route 66 Museum

Victorville, CA

Step back in time by visiting the California Route 66 Museum. The Museum showcases a magnificent collection of memorabilia dedicated to the legacy of U.S. Route 66 and Victor Valley. There are plenty of immersive settings in which you can take or have your pictures taken, as well, including a VW Love Bus complete with hippy wigs and sunglasses. There is also a 1917 Model T Ford and a 1950s diner.

Museum Hours: Open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Open 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sundays. Admission is free (donations are welcome).

Mojave Narrows Regional Park

Mojave Narrows Regional Park is located alongside an old riverbed in the high desert. Visitors to the park can enjoy year-round fishing for bass, catfish, and trout, as well as opportunities to view the area’s abundant wildlife. Mojave Narrows also features a disc golf course, equestrian trails, a playground, climbing rocks, a zero-depth water play park, hiking trails, and both RV and tent campsites.
